About the challenge

Welcome to Catalyst California Conference (C3)!

Inspired by the mission of the Grace Hopper Celebration, C3 brings together aspiring developers, designers, and innovators to learn, collaborate, and create technology that makes a difference.

This challenge focuses on learning React, a popular JavaScript library used to build interactive websites and applications.

Participants will put their new skills into practice by developing a project that addresses a challenge faced by women, supports their communities, or creates opportunities for women through technology.

Whether you're completely new to React or already have some coding experience, C3 is an opportunity to learn something new, explore your creativity, and build a project with a purpose!

Get started

  1. Learn React: Participate in hands-on learning activities to explore React fundamentals and web development.

  2. Find Your Inspiration: Identify a problem, challenge, or opportunity that affects women and brainstorm a technology-based solution.

  3. Build Your Project: Apply your React skills to create an interactive website or application.

  4. Share Your Work: Submit your project and showcase how your solution can make a positive impact.

You don't need to be an expert to make a difference. Come ready to learn, create, and collaborate!

Requirements

What to Build

Create a React-based website or application that aims to positively impact women.

Your project can address any challenge or opportunity related to women's experiences, including:

  • Education & Career Development: Tools that help women explore careers, develop skills, or access educational opportunities.

  • Health & Wellness: Applications that support women's physical or mental well-being.

  • Safety & Accessibility: Solutions that help create safer, more accessible environments.

  • Community & Connection: Platforms that connect women with mentors, resources, and supportive communities.

  • Financial Empowerment: Tools that promote financial literacy and independence.

These are just suggestions! We encourage participants to think creatively and explore issues they're passionate about.

What to Submit

Each team should submit the following through Devpost:

  1. Project Name: Give your project a creative and meaningful name.

  2. Project Description: Explain what your project does, the problem it addresses, and how it benefits women.

  3. Technologies Used: Describe how you incorporated React and any additional technologies.

  4. GitHub Repository: Include a link to your project's source code.

  5. Project Demo: Share a link to your deployed application or a short video demonstrating its functionality.

Remember: Your project doesn't have to be perfect! We're excited to see what you've learned, what you've created, and the impact you hope to make.
